I began tutoring when I graduated from High School and began teaching and helping 5th, 6th and 11th graders with perfecting their skills in the classroom. I will always remember the greatest feeling of accomplishment that I felt when the 11th grader I was tutoring, who was failing Math when she came to me, passed her Final Exam. One thing that stood out to me was that her Math teacher told her that she would never pass this class, “Boy, did we prove him wrong!” This accomplishment allowed her to spend the upcoming summer with her Dad in another state, so she would not have to attend summer school that year; and I know it definitely improved her self-esteem and taught her to always believe in herself. I always loved to teach and help people, but that feeling of fulfillment solidified it. I gained both a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Spelman College, and a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology from Georgetown University; and have held positions in both the corporate and private sector, but the yearn to teach and to help students remains with me. I live my life by a few success principles that have always worked for me, and I know they will work for the young people that I will be tutoring in order for them to achieve their academic goals. My principles are as follows: 1. "Set a Goal, and then do the work towards achieving it”, 2. ‘Never Quit”, and 3. “Let Go and Let God.” I believe that I have developed and continue to develop both my educational and people skills that would be a great benefit to parents, and to their most precious assets, their children.
Thank you,
RR
