I believe that children who have been allowed to learn and express themselves through art are our innovative leaders of tomorrow. With so much of the focus in education being dedicated to mathematics, social studies, science, and language learning, art is taking a backseat in our society. As an artist and instructor, I feel that my work makes a change in that. I am an open-minded, creative, detail oriented, and dedicated artist/instructor. My personal art focus is in sculpting, mixed media collage work, and painting.
I have experience with instructing art classes for children ages 5 through 17. I teach Art History and Applied Arts. My instructing style is very fluid, I work with the student to bring out the best in their work and comprehension. For children in home-school I follow a similar curriculum as Fairfax County Schools Visual Art Program.
The art classes will be driven toward gaining knowledge in process, product, and understanding art. Your child will work on a range of topics from idea development, learning techniques, improving craftsmanship, expanding creativity, art history, cultural context in art, presentation, and developing art vocabulary.
