Welcome,

I don't know of anyone that enjoys learning more than I do, and helping others to learn is a feeling beyond joy.

Alas, the summertime is over. =(

To some people, this time of year may be too early to consider getting a tutor but you don't want to wait until it's too late. I challenge you to judge your grasp of the material by your performances on the first quizzes and if you consider them to be uncharacteristic of what you know, or wish to achieve in the class, please be sure to contact me for help.

I'm most adept at tutoring adult learners and high-school students. I may consider tutoring outside of this age bracket if I can see potential in a younger, motivated learner. I enjoy tutoring a wide variety of subjects including:

o English (reading comprehension, non-fiction [including essay, technical manual, standard operating procedure, etc.] and fiction writing [including brainstorming, pre-writing, structure], vocabulary, spelling, and I can edit papers that you have done to improve them before you submit them for a grade)

o Math (arithmetic, geometry, pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and statistics)

o Science (physical science, chemistry, biology, anatomy/physiology, astronomy, and physics)

o Computer Programming (HTML, Visual Basic, SQL, and C++)

I can also help with studying for the preparation of exams like the GED, ASVAB, AFOQT, Praxis, GRE, GMAT, SAT and ACT.

I served in the U.S. Navy and earned a 97 out of a possible 99 on my ASVAB before entering the service so I know the test very well.

I prefer sessions at the library due to their massive collection of books on almost any topic, but if you prefer another place, I can make adjustments.

This is a tutoring service. Although, I am not in the business of writing papers or doing any assignments for you, I'll be glad to help you tackle anything you throw at me. I'll make your battles our battles.

Thanks!

ASVAB

I took the ASVAB in the summer of 2000, after getting a ridiculous score on some pre-test the recruiters gave me at their office. I scored a 97 without having any knowledge of what to expect on the test and without studying for it. It was also 6 AM and I had just received a blood draw, which is not one of my favorite activities. In January of 2001, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in arguably the most intellectually challenging field - The Navy Nuclear field.

I can't guarantee any score but I can guarantee your improvement. With me, you will see concepts differently, you will be able to recall information, and you will be able to perform under stress. Your performance on the ASVAB will determine your standard of military life for the duration of your career. I implore you, please do not take it lightly.

Linear Algebra

Linear algebra is among my favorite subjects to teach because it combines many concepts of algebraic math. I help students by exposing them to different kinds of problems. Examples of problems include: finding the slope when two points are given, how to determine whether two lines are perpendicular or parallel, and finding the equation of lines when only a point and the slope are given. I helped a former student from a D in her class to a B+ and helped give her the confidence to conquer more complex mathematical concepts in her next classes.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I've made PowerPoint presentations for work, school, and home. It's almost second-nature for me to use. Any knowledge that I have, I'll be happy to pass onto my students.

Writing

I enjoy writing. With it, you can create worlds, people, things. It's a wonderful canvas that is as long and as wide as you wish it to be. People say that a picture is worth a thousand words. I think a story is worth a million pictures.

I specialize in fiction (in areas like short story, screenwriting, novelette, novel) and non-fiction (in areas like technical, resume, essay, term paper) writing. Pre-writing is one of the most important, but frequently overlooked, steps so I place a lot of emphasis there.

With my help, you can weave the threads of ideas and thoughts with the colors of English together into the finest tapestries of art that can be appreciated and admired by all.
