To students and parents:
From my experiences, I've learned how to communicate confusing and difficult mathematical concepts in multiple ways that can be understood by anyone. If something doesn't make sense to you, I can explain it in several different ways such that one of those ways does click.
I've been tutoring since I was in high school, learning effective methods of teaching and tutoring all along the way. I've tutored 2nd - 6th graders, freshmen - seniors in high school, university undergraduates, and even graduate students who needed help brushing up on advanced level mathematics or statistics.
In completing my degree in Pure Mathematics, and also a Master's in Statistics, I have learned the Theory of Mathematics as well as applications of Mathematics, and have even written papers in Number Theory, Computational Statistics, and Statistical Sampling. As such, I know the intricacies of concepts as simple on the surface as pre-algebra or as complicated as algebraic number theory, and have a complex understanding of these concepts that describes phenomenon in more than just one way.
In general, to find a good math tutor people tend to look for subject matter expertise and teaching experience. However, just because someone has taken a lot of math classes or has taught a classroom of students doesn't mean he/she is going to be a good tutor for you.
A good tutor has complete mastery of mathematics, and has experience tutoring multiple levels of math to multiple age groups. From my education and my years of experience, I have this knowledge and ability to help you out with what you need to learn.
Also, I believe Mathematics should be thought of as a language, just like Russian or French. If you don't know Russian and I start talking to you in Russian, you're not going to have any idea what I'm saying. The same goes for Math: If you don't learn the language of Mathematics, you'll never understand anything your teachers say.
I know the language of Math, and I can teach it to you just like I have done for several students before.
Please feel free to contact me to talk some more about a particular problem you have or help you need. I look forward to helping you become truly better at Mathematics.
