I have successfully taught SAT strategies to high school students both in a classroom setting and in private tutoring sessions with Revolution Prep, one of the top SAT prep companies in the country. I have also tutored students privately in all aspects of the SAT exam, math and physics. As a result I have had the opportunity to teach students who functioned below, at, and above grade level. This allowed me to understand the varying needs of each group and to tailor my teaching style accordingly. I have a consistent track record of improving student performance... I have improved student SAT scores by up to 540 points under my tutelage over a period of just over two months! I am skilled in keeping students engaged and interested in the material, and my friendly approach has proven effective in keeping students interested and eager to learn more. I encourage students to take academic risks, establish high expectations and target multiple learning styles for effective dissemination of the material.
I was recently the head 8th grade Mathematics teacher at John Phillip Sousa Middle School, where I was responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans for the entire 8th grade. I constantly checked for higher levels of understanding while utilizing rubrics for effective dissemination of the material.
