Hello -

I am an experienced Middle and High School teacher with a warm and accepting approach that connects with nearly every type of student. This is important because children learn best when they like the teacher.

I am certified in all Social Studies subjects - US History, World History, Government, Geography, Economics, Civics and Anthropology. I am also certified in Middle School Math, Business Education and Health & PE. I can also tutor in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Trigonometry and Geometry. In addition, I am very knowledgeable and can tutor students in Middle School Science, Computers, and the Internet, and can also train students on using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

I've always loved kids (we have two teenagers), and my kids have always called me the "Fun King". I have 20 years in corporate sales in the health care field, and also am a small business owner and Internet marketing entrepreneur. I am a superb writer and proofreader, and can help any student learn to write much better.

I am a very patient teacher, but also very innovative in using various teaching methods (i.e. multi-media, interactive) to teach students who learn differently (visual, auditory, kinesthetic).

I feel very confident that your child would make impressive improvements after spending tutoring time with me. Thank you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

American History

I love American History! It's great to learn about those who paved the way before us, and how they overcame so many obstacles to help create our great country. Kids can start liking History if it's presented in interesting and creative ways, which I always strive for.

Basketball

I was a three-year varsity starter (shooting guard) in high school, played one year of college basketball, played one season of club basketball in Germany and played many years of County rec league basketball at a very high-level. I am an excellent shooter and a good ball handler. I coached Jr High basketball and am very knowledgeable about the game. Even though I'm in my fifties now and can't run full court like I used to, I can still shoot the lights out and would definitely be able to help your son, especially with his shooting and ball handling.

Elementary (K-6th)

Greetings!
In addition to the WyzAnt subjects in which I've gotten certified, I have also passed the national Praxis exams in high school Social Studies, Business Education, Health and PE and Middle School Math.
In addition, I have taught a "Computers and the Internet" class in high school. I have also started and run a small business for seven years and was in corporate sales for over 20 years.
Also, I have been a substitute teacher in elementary schools numerous times with great results.
Lastly, my wife and I have successfully raised two kids through their elementary school years and they are now well-adjusted teenagers (15 and 13 years old).
Therefore, I feel very confident that I would be a great tutor for elementary school students.
Thank you.
