I am a professional economist and statistician who enjoys helping others work their way though difficult challenges in economics and statistics.
I have twenty-five years of experience applying economics and statistics in many roles for Thiokol, Teleflex, Rolls-Royce, Teltrust, Utah Transit Authority, eBay, International PaperBox and as a consultant for WASEEM Insights. My major role in each company has been helping others in the company apply the principles of economics, statistics and process improvement methodologies to improve the quality and productivity of their processes.
I have taught statistics and economics at Idaho State University, BYU, UVU, University of Phoenix and Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. Total university teaching time is about 8 years. I have taught mathematical statistics, econometrics, business statistics, biostatistics, macro economics and micro economics.
I find that most student who need help, generally only need an hour or two to break through their stumbling blocks. Once we have identified and broken through their stumbling blocks, they typically perform well above their expectations.
Practice is important. When learning statistics, practice is more efficient when a computer is used. Most text books have some type of statistical software available for the course. I have experience in many statistical software systems and can quickly help you learn what is available for their course. In addition, I have access to practice quizzes and exams.
I also have access to practice quizzes and exams for economics. Practice with questions is the most effective way to learn economics. Textbook authors differ sometimes in some very subtle ways and so we generally have to learn those subtle differences together as we study the text and practice questions. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
