I earned a Ph.D. doing Genetics research at university. Learning is always fascinating to me, going beyond myself, one step at a time. A concept is not just a concept, it has an infinite number of aspects to be understood and appreciated. I am fascinated by the depth any seemingly simple concept can bring, be it in Math, Physics, Biology or Chinese. At the deepest level, all knowledge is connected and the network gives us a glimpse of the Truth.

Teaching, on the other hand, is also learning for me: every student is different. It is my job to learn what works and what makes sense to each student, how they think and what appeals to them. Their challenges are mine too. My goal is to unlock the joy of learning for them and show them how to teach themselves. A life-long learner is in everyone of us, it is up to us to discover the unique learner we already are.

Physical Science

Classical Physics is pure logic. Once the problem is properly dissected into constants and variables, the answer usually is quite straightforward. Yet the skill to dissect a problem seems elusive. I teach classical Physics by doing thought experiments, sometimes real ones when they are not too explosive. Bringing everyday phenomena into lessons help students to make connections and understand better. Naturally, better understanding translates into better problem solving techniques.

ACT English

I tutor all ACT subjects. ACT prep is a great way to consolidate the knowledge and bring student's understanding of the subjects to a higher ground. By going through the topics rapidly, new connections are discovered. That is when advanced learning takes place. Through ACT prep, the student truly gains a better grasp of the subject, which will be carried on to college. Of course the test score will increase as a consequence as well.

Elementary Math

Working with elementary Math is fun. It is very rewarding to see the students 'get it' and apply newly learned math concepts in real life. Those concepts in turn lay a solid foundation to a successful life in the future for them.
