Certified Level IV in mathematics for the State of Utah. I've taught mathematics courses from first year algebra through first semester college calculus and statistics, including college algebra and trigonometry, with proven success in preparing students for AP Calculus and AP Statistics exams, for 30 years at Park City High School, Park City, UT. In addition, I've been a concurrent enrollment instructor for MA1010 (Algebra 2), MA1050 (College Algebra) and MA1060 (Trigonometry) through both UVU (Utah Valley University) and SLCC (Salt Lake Community College).
My philosophy is that, given time and a patient/understanding instructor, anyone can learn mathematics. My method is "learn by doing", as one would coach an athlete, through instruction and practice. Having been a slow learner myself, I can appreciate how students struggle with mathematics; so I try to provide more than one approach to solving a problem with the intention of helping both aural and visual learners. My strengths are Geometry (I'm a visual learner) and Algebra (I think logically), but can help in all areas of mathematics by taking a look at the textbook a student is currently using.
