I am a former instructor of second-year Arabic at Brigham Young University who specializes in tutoring Modern Standard Arabic, Levantine Arabic, and Egyptian Arabic. I am rated at the DLPT 3 level/Superior level in Modern Standard Arabic and have used the language in a variety of educational and professional settings:
I have a B.A. from Brigham Young University with a Double Major in Middle Eastern Studies/Arabic and Arabic language; I completed an overseas Study at the Qasid Arabic Institute in Amman, Jordan; and am a National Security Education Program Boren Scholar (Fall 2011, Arabic).
Professional Language Experience:
I currently serve as an Arabic Interpreter for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and previously worked as an Arabic Instructor at Brigham Young University teaching second-year Modern Standard Arabic and Levantine Arabic, with a strong emphasis on grammar and voweling.
Language Test Scores:
On the Defense Language Proficiency Test in Modern Standard Arabic I received a rating of 3 in speaking, 2+ in Listening and a 3 in Reading. These scores roughly correspond to the ACTFL Superior level. I was also rated at the ACTFL Advanced-High Level on the ACTFL Written Proficiency Test, which is approximately a 2+ on the DLPT.
