Imagine the joy that your child experiences when he or she finally gets a really good grasp on the subject that has been presenting them with such a challenge. Perhaps that is what I enjoy best about tutoring a child, that is seeing that smile appear on their face and hearing them say, I got it!! I can do this now, let me try it now by myself.
I love watching a child being able to learn and master the subject material needed and not just learn it enough so they can just pass to the next grade.

To me, tutoring is more than just teaching some more knowledge to a child, it is a ministry to help unleash the potential that every child has to be the very best that they can be.

I would greatly enjoy the opportunity to tutor your elementary age student.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught kindergarten through fifth grades in a Christian School for seven years.
I have extensively used the Abeka cirriculum for Language Arts, Reading, and Math.
I have taught as a substitute teacher in the Willis ISD. I would choose the grades where I was able to teach the kids and not just babysit them.

I really enjoy teaching reading the old fashioned way by working with phonics lessons and readers that really give the child a great foundation in reading.

Phonics

Mastering reading is as we know the first step in the learning process.

In teaching phonics I review the different letters and their sounds with lots of practice on the ones where the child is struggling the most, then I choose stories and even some games to help them really get the phonics down.
