I am a middle school teacher certified PK-12. I am also a certified Project Read Phonics trainer and can work with children in phonics instruction. I have experience teaching all core subjects (Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading, English) at various levels. I will begin by assessing your child's strengths and weaknesses and will develop a plan to make the most of the time spent tutoring. I will create an individual lesson plan addressing specific learning styles, engaging activities and positive reinforcement to ensure the progress of your child.

ADD/ADHD

My experience and educational background include working with students with ADD/ADHD. I have been a Special Education teacher for 15 years and have worked with students identified with ADD/ADHD many times. Additionally, I have an M.Ed. in Special Education. My graduate coursework included classes in how to best meet the needs of students with special needs.

Autism

My experience and educational background include working with students identified as having an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). I have been a Special Education teacher for 15 years and have worked with students identified as Autistic in various settings. Additionally, I have an M.Ed. in Special Education. My graduate coursework included classes in how to best meet the needs of students with special needs.

Drawing

I am a certified teacher for Special Education grades PK-12, Deaf Ed PreK-12 and Generalist 4-8. I have two M.Ed. degrees (Administrative Leadership and Special Education). My experience (16 years teaching) and my education have provided me with the opportunity to develop skills in planning engaging lessons, determining how to best reach the needs of students and utilizing student strengths and learning styles of plan lessons.

I own an art studio and have provided lessons individually, to groups and as a part of a summer art camp. These lessons include elements of art, drawing, painting, paper mache, bookbinding and pottery.

Dyslexia

I am a certified trainer in Project Read, a phonics based program which is based on the following three educational principles: direct instruction of the concepts and skills of language, delivered through multi-sensory strategies, sequenced by logic links: concepts and skills in their dependent order.

The multi-sensory aspect of the program is particularly relevant for working with students with dyslexia.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a Special Education teacher and have taught at every level from pre-school (PPCD) through high school. I have 16 years experience working with students at all levels of academic and cognitive abilities. My current job is working with students in grades 2-5 either individually or in small groups to work on reading, English language arts, math, science and social studies. My expertise is in creating learning activities that are engaging and relevant for all students.

Elementary Math

I teach all core subjects (Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts) at a Middle School in Lewisville ISD. As a Special Education teacher I have worked with students at all functioning levels and feel that the strategies I utilize will help students with math concepts.

ESL/ESOL

I have worked with ESL/ESOL students for several years. I have been a TELPAS rater and administer the TELPAS assessment for students at the middle school level.

GED

I am a certified teacher. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Political Science and Journalism and have two master's degrees in education. I have a well-rounded knowledge base which will be beneficial in passing the GED.

Painting

I teach an art/painting class elective to students at the middle school where I teach. I also have an in-home art studio where I conduct art camps and art classes for children.

Phonics

I have been a special education teacher for the last 15 years and have worked with students at all cognitive levels. I enjoy using creativity to meet the special needs of students. I also have an M.Ed. in Special Education.
