Learning should be fun! I love to laugh and use real life situations in my teaching. I keep in touch with my students' likes and dislikes through Facebook, movies, music, and talking to them. I try to incorporate their interests and everyday language into my lessons to keep the student engaged and WANT to learn.
I have been teaching at home, in schools, and churches for over 20 years! I have taught reading, math, English, science, social studies and Spanish to children of all ages. I believe there is more than one way to get to an answer. I like to watch children's minds at work and I am amazed at the different ways they come up with the answers.
In my spare time I crochet, read, sing, and watch TV. I have spent hours on stage in community theater productions. And successfully coached my reading students to put on a play!
I have 10+ years working with learning disabled children and those with ADHD, ADD, and emotional disorders.
Every student can learn; it is just a matter of finding the key to open the door to his/her learning style.
