I have been a High School Math/Math Co-Teacher for 6 years. During the past 5 years I have also been tutoring all levels of Math after school. The subjects that I have experience in are Elementary, 7th and 8th grade, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Math Models, and College Algebra. As a Special Education Co-Teacher I have quite a bit of experience working with all levels of students but especially the struggling students. I feel that I am very successful at helping students to understand and feel confident about math. Every student that I have tutored has significantly improved their performance in their math classes. Many I have brought from failing to A's and B's. I have been told many times that parents appreciate that I build a personal relationship with the student and use methods that work with their interests, personalities and learning style. I have many references and success stories. The bottom line is that I truly love to tutor. I enjoy math and realize that so many people, adults as well as children have a phobia against math that I feel is caused by not having confidence and/or not getting the proper basic training in math. I love nothing more than to have a student that absolutely does not like math at all transform into a strong math student! Judy tutored me 3 sessions of some basic math just a refresher for a test I was going to take. She is a great tutor explaining every step so I could understand. A lot of started coming back to me which gave me more confidence for test thanks again Judy.
My son needed a review and we were unable to give Judy much notice. She worked very hard to accommodate her schedule so that she could spend 2 hours with my son. She made every effort to help him and explained many, many math concepts for his Compass review exam. My son was quite pleased with her approach and her delivery of information. I am very hopeful that we will be able to schedule another session this week prior to his test. I also want to have Judy prepare him for his ACT. I researched numerous tutors before contacting her. Since I am also an educator, I wanted to make sure that I found the "perfect fit" for my son, as he was in much need of a thorough review. Judy was truly wonderful.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Several of my students whom I have worked with through my position as a Special Ed Case Manager and Teacher have been diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome. I also have worked with Autistic students and am currently being trained to lead our Autism program.
Through my experience working in Special Education, I have worked with numerous students that are afflicted with Dyslexia. One of my children was diagnosed as Dyslexic also.

I feel that I would be a very adequate tutor for preparation of the ISEE test. I have taught math since I started teaching in 2005 and this is the most prominent section that students struggle with. I teach all aspects of the ISEE test and have sufficient experience to teach and review required concepts.
This will be my 7th year employed as a Special Education Case Manager and Math Co-Teacher at the high school level. I thoroughly enjoy working with Special Needs students and feel that my teaching style is very compatible. To be successful a teacher/tutor must build a personal relationship with each student and realize that each student optimally learns in their unique way and must teach in a style that suitable for that student.
I am currently an Algebra 2 teacher at a high school in Spring ISD in Spring, Texas. I have 6 classes of on level students and they are the last of the TAKS students. We work often with our students on TAKS practice as most schools do. Today, coincidentally, I got back the scores of my students and out of 103 students 92 passed. I am very thorough and patient with my students and I work to build confidence in them as many have test and math anxiety. I feel that I am very successful in helping my students to overcome their phobias and fears.
