Teaching really is my passion. I've been teaching English, music theory, and guitar lessons at a local small business for over three years now. During these past few years, I have worked with students from ages 4 to 75, several of whom have had ADD, ADHD, Asperger's syndrome, or severe autism. I love helping my students learn new things so much that I never find myself getting frustrated explaining difficult concepts. I am an extraordinarily patient teacher.
My educational background is rather broad. From ages 16 to 18, I attended the Texas Bioscience Institute, a dual-credit program focused on preparing students for careers in health. Although I eventually realized that the health field was not for me, I am thankful for the time I spent in the program. It provided me with a strong base in math and the sciences. Because of my thorough understanding of these subjects, my friends often ask me to help them understand concepts in classes, such as college algebra.
I am graduated from Texas A&M - Central Texas with a BA in English with a focus in technical writing. The technical writing focus separates my degree from a normal English degree because of the rigorous writing, editing, and communication classes that it required me to take. I hope to eventually use my degree to become an editor, but, like I said, teaching is my passion. I want to spend my time as a young adult helping others learn.
