I have enough biology graduate hours to teach college biology. In fact I taught freshman biology and lab for one year at Mississippi University for Women. My undergrad credits include botany and my grad credits include ecology.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have worked with public schools for years and with my grandchildren. I taught Elementary Science Methods to pre-service teachers as a TA. I have graduate degrees. I believe I can work with elementary students as a tutor just from my life knowledge and some of the classes on content area reading taken in graduate school.

Life experience and years working with students should enable me to tutor English as a second language. I can work with vocabulary cards and hands-on activities to enrich the learning experience. I can converse on many subjects and foster reading skills.

Study Skills

I believe that my experience teaching in public schools and coursework in content area reading, elementary and secondary methods classes, learning psychology, and other curriculum and instruction classes as a doctoral student make me qualified to teach study skills.

Web Design

I develop websites in HTML5 and CSS3. When tutoring in technological areas, I generally determine what the student will be doing with the technology and adjust the tutoring to his specific needs for accomplishing a task of interest. Within that framework, I instruct on the basics of websites design and programming. I instruct on additional software for photo processing and vector drawings since images are so needed in website design. I also provide information on free software and the value of instructional websites available online.

I have the 18 graduate level biology classes, including herpetology, required to teach freshman biology in a college setting. In fact, I have worked for 1 year at Mississippi University for Women as a freshman biology and biology lab instructor.
