I am flexible, patient, and have a good sense of humor. I recently retired and enjoy tutoring and substitute teaching. I have a degree in Math and a Master's in Computer Science. I worked at the Johnson Space Center and for a large oil company. I used math, computer science, science, writing, business, and engineering in a variety of ways in the work world. I'm a certified IT project manager and consultant. I can tutor project management as part of business training. I am well qualified to tutor in many areas from my training and experience.
I worked for a major oil company for many years as a project manager and line manager, managing up to 50 staff and budgets up to $10 million. I am a certified project manager, aka PMP, through the Project Management Institute. I received significant training from my employer in management of business functions and projects. They also sponsored me for a Certificate in Business Management from Houston Baptist University/American Management Association.
I have an M.S. in computer science from the University of Houston with a 4.0/4.0 GPA. I have 40 years of experience in this field with Lockheed electronics at the Johnson Space center and Shell Oil Company. Much of that time was spent in software engineering of programs and whole corporate systems, systems development at all levels, and integration of software and various hardware for real-time data acquisition and control. I have held jobs as computer programmer, systems analyst, architect, IT project manager, IT operations manager, and IT program manager. I received significant training within Shell for each of these jobs, and in turn, have trained and mentored many staff while at Shell.

I have been playing the guitar for 50 years. I played lead guitar in a rock and roll band during high school. I played with a contemporary Christian group in college. I currently play contemporary Christian music for ministry activities. My best song is Malaguena, a classical masterpiece which took a long time to learn. I can still play folk and rock music including guitar instrumentals like Misrilou and Sleep Walk. I taught my son to play the guitar and he has also been in a successful group.
I was trained in logic, including a course in formal logic, during my M.S. in Computer Science. As an analyst and programmer, I have been required to develop complex algorithms and programs using this logic, which has been more valuable than the training.
I also have a degree in Mathematics which is a strongly related field.
I have used Outlook for many years in the Shell environment, including advanced features. I believe that my experience would enable me to be an effective teacher. As a leader, I often answered questions and helped junior staff become proficient in this tool.
I have been trained in Microsoft Project but more importantly, I have many years of experience using it as a Project Manager. I am also familiar with the SAP Project System internals as well as usage, which gives me extra insight. I have managed projects of all sizes, small and large, up to $10 million using MS Project.
I have been using Windows since version 3.1 in the 90s, then Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP, and Vista. I have upgraded from one version to another. I have also had formal training and experience as a system programmer on various systems such as HP UNIX, IBM minicomputers, and mainframes.
