In terms of relevant experience, I started my own tutoring service ten years back when I knew I had a penchant for helping others with understanding subjects that they struggled with. Not only was I able to provide a personal experience for the students I helped, but I was able to study their strengths and weaknesses and develop an effective approach and lesson plan to help them perform as well as I knew they could.
My approach is to be open with the students in relation to their effort. As a tutor you are only as capable as the student is willing to learn. I have the experience of already creating lesson plans, being able to adapt on the fly, and be constructive in my efforts of helping others learn things they are having trouble with. I have worked with students from elementary level all the way to college courses. My applicable credentials would be that I am a recent college graduate from UT Austin with a degree in mechanical engineering. While I will not claim to know everything whatsoever, I believe in my ability to learn or better yet relearn things and find a way to relay that information back in a way that will make it easy to follow.
