I am an enthusiastic ESL teacher with 6 years of experience teaching local and international students at the university level. I have a love and passion for language that transmits in my teaching. My classes are fun and informative, where I am willing to put in the energy needed to pass on the love of language. I have also taught TOEFL iBT preparation courses as well as helped many students write their statement of purposes for graduate school applications. My linguistics background gives me an edge over more traditional ways of teaching English as I am able to present to students the systematic logic of English. I have received excellent teacher observations and student evaluations throughout my career. Moreover, I have taught writing, reading, and listening to elementary school, middle school and university students.
I am a native speaker of English. I have taught a wide variety of classes to students from many diverse backgrounds and origins as well as a wide age range of 11 - 40.
I have also worked for nationally distributed newspapers as a writer and editor. I still currently do freelance editing for a university. I have experience with both academic and more informal forms of writing.
