Is your 6-9 year old child frustrated with reading and reluctant to engage in reading activity? I am an engaging, caring tutor available to guide new readers who are struggling in school and in need of additional instruction. I am passionate about children and reading, and I possess the compassion to work with children who struggle with reading. I am motivated to help your child develop a desire to read and learn, as well as develop the passion for reading and schoolwork that will help provide a path to success throughout the education process.
For many years, I successfully trained high school students and adults in a business setting as a professional corporate trainer, with an emphasis on skills performance, time management, and personal/work organization. It was then that I discovered and developed my love for teaching. As a result, I began tutoring struggling students in a variety of disciplines.
During this time, I began to realize that difficulty in school often stems from a lack of the mastery of reading. I concluded that I must use my understanding of the reading process and my ability to connect with young learners as a stepping stone to providing intervention services to young readers. As an experienced one-on-one reading coach, I am skilled in preparing lesson plans, setting learning goals and objectives, developing outcomes, and testing for lesson mastery.
Provide your child with a coach who encourages, develops, and guides your child toward reading mastery and a love for reading. My instruction is intended to meet the needs of two kinds of students. It is for young children, age five or so, who are ready to learn to read, and lower elementary-age children, grades one through four, who are struggling at reading, writing, or spelling. I have continuing education credits with Neuhaus Education Center for Dyslexia and I am certified as a tutor/trainer with ProLiteracy America. I have achieved success with students as a remedial reading tutor and I am confident in my ability to work with your child toward developing successful reading skills.
