My name is Gaelle T. I started teaching in September of 2000 in New York City public schools. Although I took a couple of years off to nurture my child, teaching called my name again in 2005 while living in Texas. I have since been an English and Language Arts teacher with the Houston Independent School District. I have had a great deal of success working in my district. My students have grown to become efficient and life-long readers. I believe in a painless and simple approach to both teaching and learning: Lots of fun and rigorous activities; a variety of interesting challenging and relevant strategies; and taking a personal interest in each child's interests, gifts, abilities, and skills, beyond the subject or discipline. Elementary (K-6th)

I was a certified Generalist teacher for grades K-6 in New York City for several years. I taught math, English, reading, social studies, and science. Currently, I am a certified teacher in the state of Texas in ELA/Reading for grades 4-8. I have had a total of nine years in the classroom. In that time, I have taught every subject for students in grades K-8. Therefore, I am more than qualified to take on this task. Thank you.

Study Skills

As a certified teacher with nearly ten years of experience, it is crucial that students be taught ways to retain information. In my practice, I use Cornell-note strategies, graphic organizers, and questioning techniques to assist students with study skills. In addition,my students are also taught content-specific vocabulary terms which help them to target a particular learning goal. Finally, teaching students to be organized will help improve study habits. Thank you!

As a current Texas certified teacher, I have received countless training in helping students prepare for the now STAAR test. I have learned the format and breakdown of the test for grades 4-8.
