I love making learning interesting and making schoolwork easier. It is tough to get kids to enjoy school and learning because there are so many requirements of teachers, sometimes there really isn't any fun. My skills are in one-to-one tutoring, study skills, doing homework, and reinforcing the positive of the student's work. I work with parents to figure out why their student is not working to his or her potential, and then we create a study plan and an incentive program together.
I have an MBA and a BSS, and I have taught from college level to kindergarten. What are the differences? Learning styles frequently are the issue in elementary learning, and self confidence/self esteem is generally the issue in middle school/junior high. High school kids are self directed and want to get to the meat of the problem right away with no fluff. College students want knowledge and assistance in writing and what to study. This thinking is simplistic at first glance, but that is where I start, and we work toward specifics and tools that help your individual student.
My favorite students are elementary and junior high for tutoring because I can see the "light bulb" turn on and I can assist with math, science, writing, reading, and history. I am certified as a teacher in the State of Texas, with specialities in computer information systems and theatre arts (literature based).
Let's see what I can help you and your child to accomplish.
