ACT Math
ACT math includes a broad spectrum of topics including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, graphing and some basic statistical concepts. The tests include a healthy dose of "word problems". Using a study guide, I can help you master all of these areas and teach you how to fit those word problems into what you know how to do. You'll learn from clear explanations of the math principles and coaching so you learn how to actually use those principles to solve sample problems.
Algebra 1
Algebra 1 includes: linear equations, linear inequalities, exponents, quadratic equations, polynomials and factoring, among other topics. Let me explain these and other topics so they actually make sense.
I focus on teaching you the "how" and "why" so you understand how the math works. Then I'll teach you how to use it on sample problems by coaching you on how to figure out when and how to apply what you've learned. When you take a test, you will have confidence that you know how to do the math and you will get better grades.
You can do it. I'll show you how.
Algebra 2
Algebra 2 expands on the topics from Algebra 1 and adds some new ones, including logarithms, exponential and logarithmic functions, polynomial functions, range and domain of functions. As in Algebra 1, I'll explain these and other topics so they actually make sense, then teach you how to use what you've learned.

Elementary Math
Elementary math includes all of the basic arithmetic topics. These include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. I can show the student how to study these for the best effect.
Other areas include fractions, decimal numbers, percents, rates and ratios. These are difficult concepts to many of us the first time we see them, but with proper explanation and examples they become clear.
Basic math also also includes some basic Geometry concepts, like area and volume, and it introduces those dreaded "word problems". I teach my students how to translate from English to the language of mathematics. It's very difficult at first, but once you learn a few principles and get some practice, it gets a lot easier.
GED
I can help students with all areas of the GED test. My specialty is math, and I'm also quite well versed in the rules and use of the English language. See my subject qualifications for Elementary Math, Algebra and English.
German
I'm a native English speaker who has spent a total of 5 years living in Germany, where I learned German from my friends, colleagues, and my native German spouse. I've been a German speaker for more than 30 years now. Besides the normal grammar and structure, I can also teach you how the Germans actually use the language.
You will need to have selected your own learning program, be it a book or a program on CD-ROM or DVD. I'll help you work through the exercises and add extra details and background, including tips on German culture from personal experience. For example, some things can be translated verbatim from English to German, but the result could mean something entirely different from what it means in English. Sometimes it's just humorous, and other times it's not "socially acceptable".
I'll tell you about the German language from the perspective of a native English speaker.
Grammar
I have very good English skills. I can help you with reading comprehension, sentence structure, parts of speech, punctuation, when to use the apostrophe (and when NOT to use it), and lots more.
Microsoft Excel
I can show you how to make an Excel spreadsheet give you the answers you need by using formulas, built-in functions, named ranges, data lookup, and macros for tougher problems. I have used Excel extensively for my own projects and professionally in my career. Also, Google spreadsheets (in Google Docs) are modeled after Excel, so you can use what you learn and have your own "cloud computing" platform for free.
Prealgebra
Prealgebra covers such things as basic equations, graphing, and fractions. These topics are used throughout all of your algebra studies and beyond.

Precalculus
Precalculus goes deeper into algebra and includes new topics such as complex numbers, factoring quadratics where the first coefficient is not 1, solution of systems of equations with more than two unknowns, exponential functions, logarithmic functions, partial fractions, and new conic sections such as ellipses and hyperbolas. I am well-versed in all of these topics and I can help you understand these challenging topics. Understanding what's "under the hood" can make them much less difficult to master!
