Hi, my name is Erika! I am a liberal arts major who has a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. I have had a love for both reading and writing since elementary school. I have been told repeatedly by both family and educators I should write for a living. Writing is my passion, and editing comes naturally.
I am currently employed for Children's Protective Services and know the importance of providing a safe learning environment for your child. Additionally, writing is a crucial component of my job. I document interactions daily, compose detailed court reports both judges and attorneys rely on to make potentially life changing decisions, and write professional letters to clients.
I also continue to improve my skills through private endeavors. I kept a blog for several years while I homeschooled my children. I have taught three of my own children to read and write and continue to come alongside them to improve their skills during their charter school journey. I have also edited resumes, cover letters, research papers, and dissertations on the side.
I firmly believe reading is the key to improved writing and encourage a passion for it. My primary goal for each child is to learn to write from the heart and edit with the mind. Whether your child is composing a piece for school, the SAT, or to enter into a literary contest, it is essential to bring out their inner voice in a clear, concise, logical manner with proper spelling, punctuation, grammar and syntax. I will work alongside your child to show him or her the format for any piece of writing, allow your child to freely write using that basic format, then show your child the keys to edit their piece to make it shine.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to meeting both you and your unique child!
