YOU: Trying to figure out where you (or your child) should go for college, what major to study, and how you're going to pay for it all.
ME: A college admissions specialist for eight years, I am happy to help college-bound students with college selections, degree advising, planning for college transfers, and scholarship searches. I first discovered the opportunity to informally help students with scholarship searches during my time working at Austin Community College assisting with the establishment of the Honors program. I sharpened the techniques I would later develop into an official workshop for my students while an Enrollment Counselor at The University of Phoenix in Austin. I brought this program to my students at The Art Institute of Austin when my wife began attending there and I became an Assistant Director of Admissions. I can declare with modest pride that at both schools I achieved the unofficial title of “Scholarship Guru” among my peers for the large percentage of my students who were awarded various local and national scholarships. Each of those students deserves the credit for doing the work; I am happy to have helped with guidance and assistance.
Other than the joy of seeing my students walking the stage at graduation, the best moments in my college advising career have been sharing the excitement of a student who has won a scholarship at which they put forth effort. If you are in the process of searching for scholarships, willing to put forth some effort and would like my guidance, please know that I am happy to help share that excitement with you.
To your success,
