I am a certified special education teacher for a local school district, with over 15 years' teaching experience. I have taught students ages 3 to 21 years old. My degree is in history, and I have taught world history and geography at the high school level. I have completed my master’s coursework in special education and secondary education. I am currently teaching resource in elementary but have also taught at the middle and high school level (including in an alternative setting ). My tutoring students have needed skills ranging from basic study skills to advanced placement courses and everything in between. My students work very hard for me and show remarkable improvement not only academically but often emotionally as well. I also have experience with students with autism as well as emotionally disturbed students. Let me become part of your family! Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. ADD/ADHD

Many of my students have had ADD/ ADHD. I have attended many seminars related to ADHD through the school district where I am employed. I also taught at an Alternative School. My daughter also has ADD /inattentive type.

Aspergers

I am a certified Special Education teacher. I have taught students with Aspergers ranging in ages from 6 to 17.

Autism

I have taught students with Autism ranging from 5 years to 17 years old. I am certified Special Ed EC-22.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a certified special education teacher for a local school district, with over 15 years' teaching experience. I currently teach resource in reading, math, and English in pre-k through 4th. I taught Home-bound students ages 3-22 in all subject areas for over 10 years.

Elementary Math

I have taught math from kinder through 6th grade. My desire is to teach students in a variety of ways so that they learn to love working with numbers and to not fear them. I have attended many math workshops on teaching
Students so that they actually understand how they got the answer and why it is either right or wrong.

English

I have completed all of my coursework towards my master's in Secondary Education. My specialty is teaching reading and writing so that my students learn to love it. I work very well with reluctant learners as well.

Reading

I have a great love for reading and enjoy fostering that same love with my students. I have taught struggling students from K - 22 in developing or enhancing their reading skills in decoding, comprehension, and fluency.

Social Studies

My Bachelor's degree is in History. I love social studies at all levels.

Special Needs

I have extensive experience working with children and young adults with Special needs ranging from severe and profound to high- functioning Autism. I am also well trained in working with students needing physical accommodations.

Study Skills

I am able to organize even the most unorganized student and help them to be successful in their learning. I am firm but reasonable in my demands and because I have established a relationship with my students, they succeed.

Writing

I have experience in editing and grading papers in writing from kindergarten through graduate school. I have written papers myself for very demanding college professors and have tutored students of all ages in the writing process.
