I currently teach English and Reading Intervention at a high school in Nevada, Texas. Previously, I taught Resource (Special Education) English, Language Arts and Reading at the elementary and high school level for five years.

I am currently certified in English grades 4 through 12, Special Education EC through 12, and ESL EC through 12. In addition, I am currently halfway through the completion of the Master of Education - Curriculum & Instruction, Triple Literacy program at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Reading

I have recently completed my Master of Education degree at UT Arlington, in triple literacy studies. Completing that program allowed me to become a certified Reading Specialist and Master Reading Teacher in the state of Texas.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am certified in Texas as a 4-8 generalist, ESL, Special Education EC-12. I recently completed my Masters of Education in triple literacy studies, which prepares and qualifies me to sit for the Reading Specialist and Master Reading Teacher certification examinationa.

Phonics

I taught elementary Reading for two years and now I teach a high school reading intervention class, as well as sophomore English and pre-AP English. I am currently obtaining my Masters of Education in Triple Literacy Studies and I will become a Reading Specialist upon completion of my degree.

Study Skills

I have taught study skills to students in both elementary and high school for six years. Also, as a current graduate student, I am learning more about study skills every day, based on my personal experience.

As a special education teacher, I have implemented a very large number (in excess of 50) IEPs (Individual Education Plans), which have contained compensatory and study skills goals.

ESL/ESOL

I hold a Texas teaching certification in ESL and I am currently involved in graduate studies related to language acquisition.

ADD/ADHD

I currently hold a Texas teaching certification in Special Education EC-12 and have six years of experience working with ADD/ADHD students.
