I fell in love with teaching from day one! I graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in biology and minor in math. I pursued sales until getting involved volunteering at my area high school which inspired me to change my career path. I am TExES certified general science 8-12 and have been a classroom teacher for the past five years. I am transitioning into tutoring after a recent move to the area! Over the years I taught chemistry, physics, anatomy/physiology, biology, and dance. On the academic side, I held many positions including, but not limited to: district wide Algebra I & II tutor, trained our department on STAAR strategies based on individual student data, worked closely with "at risk"/struggling students with proven results, developed full anatomy/physiology curricula for my district and more. For the dance side, I grew a small drill/dance team from the edge of being terminated to State Champions that were invited to perform at the Cotton Bowl, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Spurs Halftime Shows, and more. I have a true passion for helping prepare our children for a fulfilling and successful future and look forward to continuing to pursue that passion outside of the classroom!
I have always possessed a strong affinity for math. I not only teach Algebraic and Geometric skills as they pertain to Chemistry and Physics, I have also served as a district-wide tutor for Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry.
I taught dance and dance team/prep as well as coached the dance team for three years. I continually grew the dance program culminating in a state championship and multiple invitations for high profile performances. I began jazz, tap, and ballet lessons at three years old and continued with other styles of dance, cheer and gymnastics, throughout my life. Dance is a truly deep passion of mine and believe that it is therapeutic not only for the body but the mind as well.

I am group fitness certified through Les Mills and have taught their Body Pump and Body Combat classes. I am also a certified yoga teacher. I truly believe that the only therapy one needs is a good workout! Be it turning the music up and dancing to your favorite song, getting on the treadmill or enjoying a group exercise class, the key to physical and mental health is through movement!
Geometry is essential to Physics and I taught Physics for the last 5 years. While teaching Chemistry and Physics I was also assigned as a district wide Math tutor for Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry. I have always had a strong affinity for math and am able to break problems down in easier to swallow chunks for students.
I taught Nutrition for 4 years and continue to research and learn through industry publications. I have a strong background in Biochemistry and have taught lessons on nutrition on a macro and micro scale. One of my assignments for my students is for them to keep a detailed food diary for 2-4 weeks (time permitting) in which they learn to analyze their diet, recognize where the diet is lacking/exceeding, caloric intake, and importance of nutritional value as it pertains to them specifically.
I built curricula from the ground up at the high school level. I was able to build a program that was appropriately differentiated to allow advanced students to achieve a deep understanding and allowed for lower level students to grasp all concepts and excel based on State standards. I taught math-based Physics, not Principles of Technology, for 4 years with proven success based on state testing scores.
I attended all EOC for Success Chemistry, Physics, and Biology Courses offered through TEA. I also used student test data to create student specific tutoring to help ensure maximum EOC success. I believe that the key to student standardized test success in the long run is not to teach to the test but to teach to the concept and student expectations within that concept.
