Journey with me through the Language Arts maze in an effort to improve and/or lay a solid foundation for your comprehensive tutoring experience. My eleven years in the elementary school classroom have equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and background as well as continually fueling my passion to see an improvement in the areas of English, Grammar, Vocabulary, Writing, Reading, and/or Spelling.

My biggest pet peeve is to see poor grammar and incorrect spelling being displayed for others to see. The necessity of addressing this is compelling. I would like to use my education and experience to make a difference in this area. The misuse of the apostrophe, the subject-verb agreement come to mind as being very prevalent in today's society.

I am positive that I can help tutees with their vocabulary and spelling having been taught Latin and French in my formative years. These languages still help me today and form the basis for my knowledge with words. If you have a student grades two to four who can benefit from an improved language arts curriculum in the emphases listed I will be happy to talk to you. If English is your second language, this tutor will help you lay the groundwork for an accelerated and progressive foundation. We will work in one hour sessions, two or three times a week depending on need. We can work individually or in groups of three or four.

I promise to provide the best opportunities possible without sacrificing the personal service you deserve.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

I am WyzAnt tutor certified in ESL/ESOL. I have worked successfully with numerous ESL students from various countries. Some students that I have tutored come from Mexico, Venezuela, China, and Japan.
