My focus in Photoshop goes far beyond the edits to photographs you might think of. I can of course go over the basics of that and photo-manipulation, but my real strength in PS is in digital painting. From clearly digital styles to something that seems like a traditional painting Photoshop can be a incredibly versatile tool for any artist. Creating custom patterns, brushes, textures isn't as hard as you might think, and you'll be amazed just how much this program can do.
I have a passion for art history, less so on the 20th century forward then the earlier ones but all of it is fascinating to me. It's almost like anthropology, for you get to see how a culture lived, what they thought was important and sometimes get glimpses of their every day lives. Pre-historic to post modern, I've studied it all.
I encourage students to explore the concepts of each art period for themselves, discovering more then just the art, but also the emotion, the people behind the creation of the paintings, etching and statues that we are left with.
