Garnet worked with my son for a semester, teaching him an entire year's worth of brand new material (precalculus) so that he could place into calculus for his senior year in high school. He tested and placed successfully into BC Calculus! Garnet was easy to get along with, very accommodating with his schedule, flexible to needed changes in timing, and altogether a godsend. I heartily recommend him!

Garnet has helped my daughter with everything we've thrown at him! This is the second year we've used him (Pre-AP Physics, AP Chemistry, Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus BC). He is patient and has helped my daughter to be confident and prepared to handle her courses. We are so grateful to have found such an amazing tutor! He is professional and really takes time to explain and make sure she understands everything! I wished we could pack him up and take him to college with her next year!

Brendan received a grade of 100 on his first Calculus II quiz. This is a great start for the spring semester!!! Thanks Garnet!

Garnet was my tutor for Business Calculus and Statistics. He was always very helpful. He has a very busy schedule but he always managed to find a way to work with me when I needed help. I don't have the greatest attention span and I had a lot of difficulty understanding my Calculus and Statistics professors in class, but Garnet was able to explain the concepts in a way that not only kept me interested but also helped me understand everything I was having problems with. He made the classes look very easy and I ended up getting high grades in both classes. My biggest regret was that I was not able to find him sooner.

Garnet tutored my son in preparation for his ACT. We were pleasantly surprised at the progress he made. His reading scores went from a 25 to a 33!! Science went from 27 to a 34. WOW!!! There are more options for him now. This is one of the best ways to help your child succeed. Hire a good tutor!!

Made it easy to understand!! He was very patient and not condescending at all!! I used him for almost 3 weeks and will definitely use him again if I have ANYTHING math again!! He is the BEST!!

My son connected with Garnet, and it really helped with the sessions, especially with the subjects that my son didn't like. I would highly recommend Garnet.

Great listener, encouraging and powerful instructor!

Positive reinforcement, advanced methods to help increase speed. My child feels like Garnet wants her to succeed!

My daughter has enjoyed the tutoring time spent with Garnet. He is very patient and goes above and beyond to make sure she understands. He does everything he can to fit you in even when his schedule is extremely tight. Thanks Garnet.

Garnet is very professional and respectful. His teaching style is thorough and patient. He attempts to allow you to arrive at your potential with his side-by-side coaching. He never speaks in a derogatory manner, even if you feel you are testing his patience, he only seeks another avenue to assist your understanding.

After my first session with him, I felt that the reviews that had been given were indeed correct, he is very good. He maintains a structured schedule, begins and ends on time. If unavoidable circumstances are presented, he immediately communicates with you and attempts to work in your favor.

Mr. Garnet was not only knowledgeable but I found him to be methodical too. This helped me to pick up his teachings and improve my knowledge in Physics. He was very responsive to questions and accommodates changes to tutoring appointments.

I enjoy very much working with Garrett. He definitely knows what he is teaching. I would recommend him to anyone.

Garnet did everything right to make this tutoring session beneficial for me.

1. He asked the right questions prior to meeting to be prepared on our first tutoring session. I sent him the problems that we were working on and told him the areas that I was struggling with (which was most of Chemistry).

2. He sent meeting reminders and he arrived on time.

3. He was obviously a subject matter expert (SME) who had a thorough understanding of the content I was being taught. But unlike some really smart people who are poor teachers, Garnet explains things in a calm and understandable manner. He is a good communicator and when I didn't get a concept, he presented it to me in a different way. I really like that he didn't make me feel like an idiot as some SMEs can do.

I look forward to tutoring this semester with Garnet.

Garnet has a calm demeanor and put me at ease right from the start. He listened to me and appeared to grasp the areas I was struggling in. He showed me easier ways to solve problems and worked at nice pace so I could follow. He taught me ways to eliminate the trivial mistakes I kept making on previous exams and gave me confidence that I can get it right the next time. Garnet is very professional, but not stiff, and he seemed to genuinely take an interest in preparing me for my next exam. Overall, he was precise, intuitive and relaxed. I will most definitely exhaust my account on Garnet.

Garnet is a great tutor. My son has a much greater understanding of Calculus now then he did when they began working together. Garnet was not the first tutor or WyzAnt tutor we had tried, but he was the first that was truly able to challenge and work with my son. His available time fills quickly, but he is always willing to work to find a good time for his students. Particularly when something big, like an exam, is coming up.

Garnet made the time to meet with my son even when all his other students cancelled due to the inclement weather.

My son seems to learn more and faster from Garnet than any tutor he's ever had, so it's working for us!

My daughter thinks Garnet is amazing. She said that he knows everything and explains in terms she understands. Her grades have improved and I would definitely recommend him as a tutor.

Garnet broke everything down in a way I could easily understand. His teaching style makes it so that you come out feeling much more confident with the material! Will definitely be schedule more tutoring sessions in the future!

I recently completed a summer school class I needed to take, physics electromagnetism. I was very worried going into the class because I had heard just how hard this physics would be, maybe even my toughest class I would take in my collegiate career. On top of that I was taking it in a 1 month condensed class and going into it Physics was definitely not my strong point. After our first meeting, I could already tell that Garnet would be the game changer for me. I was very impressed at how professional he was but yet also very warm and friendly. He is incredibly smart, but yet very patient if you don't understand something and has the rare gift of being able to explain it to you in a way you understand. If you don't understand it the first way, he will attack the problem a different way until he knows for certain that you understand it. You can tell that he genuinely wants to see you learn and succeed. I can't tell you how many times I walked into our tutoring sessions completely clueless on the material I had just learned and then walked out from our session (usually just an hour and a half) confident that I could work out the problems on my own. Before I met with Garnet regularly, I made a 55 on my first exam. I knew the class would only get harder and I couldn't help but be concerned of being able to make that up. Well, against all odds and Garnet's amazing tutoring ability, I not only passed the class, but I finished with an 87 overall. The last exam I took I actually led the class with a score of a 99! To go from a 55 on my first exam (only one person scored lower in my class than me) to leading the class with a 99 on my last exam is a true testament to just how gifted Garnet is. If you are considering a tutor, look no further! He is by far the best tutor I have come across and I have had a fair amount. Thank you Garnet for all that you did!

Garnet is a wonderful tutor! He is very patient and ready to explain things in detail, even when it takes several different ways of explaining. I'm pretty sure there is no way I would have made it through my statistics class (and gotten an A) without him!

I haven't been in school in 7 years and only had 10 days to prepare for the GRE. Garnet was very intelligent, patient and easy to communicate with. I did well enough to not only get accepted to a top 30 school, but also get scholarship money. I highly recommend him.

Folks, I'm a premed student. I usually make great grades but with physics I need extra help.

Garnet is very knowledgeable, he knows everything about physics and is very good explaining so you can understand the underlying concept.

He is patient even when I am frustrated over a very simple problem.

He is very easy to contact and reach and he'll work around your schedule to meet with you.

With taking college physics over the summer, Garnet is the best and this is the physics guy for you!

Garnet has been highly facilitative in regards to my stats homework. He is very patient and willing to work through problems at my personally desired pace. When he was unsure of how to answer a question, Garnet went above an beyond, spending his own time to research the proper method for solving the problem. Garnet is flexible, punctual, professional, and reliable. He has never missed an appointment and has always been willing to meet. I would adamantly recommend his services to any student in need of statistics tutoring.

Garnet did a wonderful job helping our daughter through her second semester of Physics 1. He was always very patient and professional. Garnet would even spend extra time to make sure she understood the concepts. I will definitely use him again in the future!

My student initially started math tutoring sessions with Garnet to gear up for the SAT exam that was taken June 1. His instruction helped her tremendously and her confidence improved greatly. He is thorough with much attention to detail. He is punctual and very professional. We will continue to use him for tutoring through our senior year.

Garnet is an excellent tutor!!! He is very accommodating, and willing to stay longer than scheduled on many occasions to get the work done. I would call him a perfectionist when it comes to math problems and would highly recommend him to anyone needing any type of math tutoring. He showed me different ways to come up with answers and easier ways than my teacher. He is very knowledgeable on all areas of math. I was totally freaking out about my Finite Math class and his lessons not only helped me pass, but I got a much higher grade then expected. Garnet is definitely the best tutor I'e ever worked with! Overall my experience has been GREAT!

Garnet did an outstanding job in helping me with statistics class for college, he is really nice and understands what he is doing!!!! Bravo for Garnet!!!

Punctual, prepared, and approachable. He is respectful of time constraints. Garnet H was focused on why he was here. I will definitely use him again.

Garnet is very knowledgeable about the subject of Statistics. With Garnet, giving him the subject area at hand was all he needed. At point, he knows where you have been in the subject and where you are needing to go for future subject areas to be prepared for what you need.

Awesome Tutor! I had a week to go before my physics exam and I was freaking out. In desperation, I turned to Garnet for help. I had my doubts about this site and whether he could really help me out. It turned out to be the best decision I ever made. He was prompt, patient, encouraging, and very willing to inconvenience himself just to make sure I do well in my exam. He actually made learning physics both entertaining and easy, and by the time I took my exam the material seemed ridiculously easy. Garnet is a great tutor! I highly recommend him.

I have had tutors previously for different subjects, however, I was never fully satisfied with them for different reasons: competence, patience, punctuality, understanding and enthusiasm about the subject. I came to this site with skepticism, but today I can say that it is been the greatest simply because they have a tutor like Garnet H.

Garnet was very quick in responding to my messaging, understanding my situation, patiently explaining things I didn't grasp before, and spreading his enthusiasm to me about physics. You will be lucky if you get tutoring with him (of course if he has time). I will certainly go to him again if I have physics or math related questions. He is the best tutor I have ever had.

Garnet was an unbelievable tutor. He made everything seemed so easy. He explained many concepts to me that I was having difficulty understanding, and in a short amount of time with him I learned a lot more than I have in weeks of studying. He was very patient with me during our session, and had a very friendly and cheerful way about him that made learning fun. I will definitely seek his help again in the future, and I definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a good tutor!

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have tutored and taught the English/Verbal sections of the ACT, SAT, GRE, and GMAT. I have tutored all aspects of it, ranging from mechanics, with focus on punctuation and sentence structure, to rhetoric, with focus on conciseness and paragraph structure.

I cannot guarantee success, but many of my past students who have worked with me on a consistent basis (generally three weeks or more) have achieved surprisingly high scores in either their SAT or ACT math sections. I am familiar with the contents, so I can tell you what types of problems you can expect and the frequency with which they come up. I can also show you different ways of tackling each problem and let you decide which ones work best for you.

In addition to taking College Algebra, I have also studied and tutored higher level related mathematics such as Linear Algebra and Modern (Abstract) Algebra. It is therefore a subject with which I am very comfortable and proficient, and more importantly, students gravitate towards my style of teaching it and are able to understand it much better.

In addition to taking college algebra, I have also studied and tutored higher level related mathematics such as Linear Algebra and Moderen or Abstract Algebra. It is therefore a subject with which I am very comfortable and proficient, and more importantly, students gravitate towards my style of teaching it and are able to understand it much better. I have been tutoring it for over three years.

I have taken a semester of Biostatistics and have also helped several students with it. Admittedly, I am not that proficient in the biological aspects of it, but I am very much proficient in its statistical aspects and I have tutored a number of Applied Statistics courses.

I have taken over two years of programming in Pascal and a year of programming in C. The proverbial theory is that once you've learned one programming language, learning a second one is trivial. I don't fully subscribe to this theory, but C and Pascal are so similar in structure and syntax that it feels as though I've taken over three years of programming in both. It's not something I tutor regularly, but it's something I feel very comfortable teaching and explaining because of the amount of time I personally spend dabbling and playing around with these languages.

I took a Calculus class in high school, majored in Math in college where I helped other students who struggled. So, unofficially, I guess I can say I've been tutoring this class for a long time. Officially, I've been tutoring it for over three years now. I've tutored both the engineering and business sections of this class, and having worked with over hundreds of students and encountered all sorts of issues from them, I am now fairly confident in diagnosing weaknesses very quickly and prescribing the right dose of teaching and encouragement they need to get the grades they want.

I have tutored general chemistry I and II at the undergraduate level and helped students with their Mastering Chemistry online assignments. I have also worked with high school students in both their class work and standardized exam preparation, which includes AP Chemistry and SAT Chemistry subject tests. My strength lies in explaining concepts in rather non-technical language for students to better relate to and understand.

Differential Equations is a subject I've tutored for over three years now. I'm extremely comfortable with it because as a Physics minor most of the physics problems I've had to solve required differential equations. I can help you out with both ordinary and partial differential equations of first, second, and even higher orders. I am also adept with Laplace transform, matrix method, and series solutions of differential equations.

I have taken a semester of Discrete Mathematics and received an A in it. I have also tutored it for over a year. With the exception of Operations Research and Information Theory, I am very comfortable and adept at teaching many of the topics covered in a typical Discrete Mathematics course, from Probability, Set Theory, and Number Theory, to Geometry, Topology and Finite-Difference Calculus.

I am not extremely fluent at speaking French, but I'm very proficient at reading and writing at a high level in French, and at teaching French grammar.

I have tutored for the GED before. I haven't tutored it for as long as I have tutored GRE, GMAT, SAT, and ACT. My experience is therefore not as broad in it, however, there are sections of it I can really help you with: social studies, sciences, and mathematics.

Geometry, like Algebra and Trigonometry, is one of the base subjects for the higher level math courses. As a math major, I had to be very grounded in these subjects. As a result, I am very comfortable and confident in not only tutoring them but doing so at a level and style that students can readily follow and understand.

I was also instructor for the GMAT (along with the GRE) at Kaplan. The GMAT is slightly different format-wise and scoring-wise from the GRE, but the underlying concepts (or basic tricks) needed for mastering it are basically the same as that of the gre. I know the typical problems students run into with these exams so I know what to it takes to correct them. For the GMAT and GRE, timing is always crucial, so what I try to do is show my students the quickest way(s) to solve (or answer) problems, as well as techniques and strategies they can use if they're ever in a position where they're running out of time.

I have tutored grammar at different levels and for different languages. I have taught grammar for SAT and ACT prep courses as well as for the GMAT and GRE. I have also tutored it for Latin, English and French.

This is a game I'd love to show you how to play. Yes, you heard me right, a game! I've worked with Kaplan as a GRE instuructor for over three years and in that time I've come to realize mastering the GRE doesn't really require intelligence (of course it certainly helps if you have it); it requires you to know the simple rules and tricks of the game. You simply need to understand the mindset of the test makers, and years of experience have taught me how to do exactly that. I can show you a mix of strategies and tricks that can get you in the score range you want (after putting them into much practice, of course, I'm no magician!), and you will find out in a few instances how you can even get an answer correct without having the slightest clue in the first place. To work at Kaplan, I had to score over 90th percentile in both the math and verbal sections, so with these credentials, I'm certain I can help you out.

I studied Latin at Boston Latin School, a high school that emphasized a strong balance between classical studies and the mathematics and sciences. It was a mandatory and major part of the curriculum and I had to take it for four years, but I'm particularly glad that I did because it's broadened my perspective in life and instilled in me a passion for learning languages. While in high school, I also got a perfect score in the National Latin Exam and I still manage to keep up with it.

Operabitur apud te exspecto!

Linear Algebra is a subject I've tutored for over three years. As with all of my math classes I had an A in it, but, more importantly, as a result of my experience in teaching it I've developed not only a keen grasp of the subject but a style of presenting it that my students get.

Physics is a course I particularly enjoy tutoring. The biggest problem I've noticed with students who come to me for Physics is a lack of firm grasp on its very basic and fundamental concepts. Physics is not like Calculus: you can't just get by with knowing a few techniques of integration and differentiation; you really have to be well grounded in the most basic concepts, you have to start from the very root of it. I tend to have a lot of Physics students who are good in Math but terrible in Physics because they either never had the strong foundation in the basic principles of Physics or they just simply felt it was rather easy or not so important when they were covering it. I generally like to get my physics students early in their course because then I can really impress upon them these fundamentals without having to take them back to memory lane.

Having taken, as well as tutored, both College Algebra and Linear Algebra, I am fairly adept at explaining the concepts of Prealgebra at a level students can readily grasp.

I've studied and taught Calculus I (differentiation techniques), Calculus II (Integration techniques), Calculus III (multi-variable extension), and Differential Equations; and Precalculus is a prerequisite for all of these, so I am both confident and adept at explaining its concepts at a level that students can readily understand.

I've taken Probability and I've tutored it for over three years. I have also passed actuarial exams that require a high level of probability, so it is a subject with which I am both comfortable and proficient.

I have taken a number of Statistics courses, a list which includes elementary statistics, probability and statistics for engineers, mathematical statistics, and biostatistics, to name a few. I have also tutored many students in statistics ranging from high school to graduate level. It is therefore a subject in which I am very strong and very comfortable thanks to my extensive exposure to it.

In addition to teaching the GRE and GMAT at Kaplan, I've also tutored the TOEFL. I can also give you valuable advice on the right resources (there are plenty of resources available out there, but some are far more useful than others) to use to prepare for it.

Trigonometry, like Algebra and Geometry, is one of the base subjects for the higher level math courses. As a math major, I had to be very grounded in these subjects. As a result, I am very comfortable and confident in not only tutoring them but doing so at a level and style that students can readily follow and understand.

Admittedly, teaching/tutoring Vocabulary is something I find challenging. Personally, I have a good memory and it's easy for me to learn new words, but just because I'm good at something doesn't make me good at teaching it. Different people have different ways of learning, therefore the best I can do is go from experience and show you which methods have worked for me, and which ones have worked for students with whom I've worked. I can show you mnemonic techniques I find successful and recommend them based on their relative frequency success rate.
