To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Jonathan T. I have attended school at The University of Texas at Dallas as well as Richland College. I have over four years experience tutoring mathematics and physics at the college level. I have tutored hundreds of students attending every community college and university in the surrounding Dallas area.

I have worked with students in Developmental Math, Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Business Calculus, Applied Calculus, AP & BC Calculus, Science Calculus, Engineering Calculus, Physics I & II, Differential Equations and Linear Algebra. I have tutored students in these courses coming from all the local educational facilities, which enables me to understand what material to focus on and how the curriculums will progress through the semester.

Before I became a Mathematics and Physics tutor I spent 7+ years in retail. My customer relations experience in retail combined with my knowledge of science gives me a unique skill allowing me to be friendly, personable and able to pick out what each individual student should focus on as everyone sees things differently. My job is to figure out how the student views things and tailor my tutoring process to their needs.

A general session will consist of going over any material that is misunderstood and completing any work that is due for the week. I require a minimum of 2-hours per week for students and a semester commitment (commitment is only required after the student is satisfied with the initial session.)

Saturday and Sunday – UT Dallas (Exceptions may apply)

Weekdays – Home visits, campus visits, UT Dallas or within relative distance

I do offer discounts for group sessions. Up to three students may join a group session, each additional student is $20.00 on top of the initial fee e.g. if four students chose to schedule a group session the total would be $110.00/hour and could be split between the four.

Jonathan’s subjects

Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Calculus, Differential Equations, Geometry, Linear Algebra, Prealgebra, Precalculus, Trigonometry
Physical Science, Physics
Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Calculus, Geometry, Physics, Prealgebra, Precalculus

Algebra 1

Pre-algebra, Algebra I, and Algebra II are probably the most important math classes one will take. It is essential that one understands at least 90% of the material in these subjects before moving on to Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus... One can get a good grasp of these classes with less understanding; one cannot, however, begin to approach these classes without the proper foundation.

I have been helping students improve their test scores on average 30% for over two years now. I have an ability to reiterated what most people perceive as complicated in a simple fashion which allows one to absorb the concept properly.

These three subjects, if going into a science degree, are more important that anything else; it is essential that one has a superb understanding of them.

I have multiple years experience dealing with Precalculus, Calculus I, Calculus II, advanced Calculus, and applied Calculus. As a physics major Calculus is a foundation of the math involved in advanced Calculus, one cannot properly approach these problems without a clear understanding of the methods of Calculus. If you are in need of understanding or just flying through the classes, I can make it so much simpler for you. I do not over-complicate material like teachers tend to. My motto is "keep it simple stupid", I know what to focus on and what the teachers will test you on. You will not waste time on the incorrect arrears if you work with me.

Differential Equations

Differential equations is not a difficult class, in fact if one knows how to do Calculus proficiently and understands how to "plug-and-chug" a formula DE is a breeze. I took this class over a 4 week summer course while working full time and passed it with flying colors.

As a tutor this course is the most simple to reiterate to students. I currently am working with a company on applying a transform of a first order Differential Equation with other functions involving the PID method an inputting the Laplace Transformation in order to complete a looping energy flow as a mathematical description as a second order Differential Equation.

If you are concerned about this class, you should not be. As long as your Calculus is good this class will be a breeze. I can show you how easy it is.

Linear Algebra

I have over two years of Linear Algebra experience ranging from business applications, engineering applications, and physics applications, and have created youtube videos geared towards tutoring the subject.

I have helped many students at the University of Dallas take their grades in Linear Algebra from D's, F's and worse to either a passing grade or A's. Linear Algebra is a relatively new subject so many professors just do not have the curriculum down. I have taken many Linear Algebra courses, from simple to advanced, and I have learned what is important to point out to beginners so that they do not get lost in the subject and can keep up with the course as it progresses.

Trigonometry next to Algebra, is the next most important subject as a up and coming scientist. If one is going into science related mathematics, it is crucial that they fully understand trigonometry. If one can comprehend the theories in Trig it will make the latter classes, i.e. physics, calculus… so much easier to understand and approach. I have hundreds of hours of working with trigonometric functions and concepts. If this is a subject you seem to be struggling with, I will simplify it for you.
