I am a dedicated, caring and patient individual with a passion for the subjects I teach and a strong desire to light that passion in the minds of the students I tutor. I believe that passion, along with patience and the ability to approach the subject in the way that best meets the student's needs, are what make me an excellent tutor. I tutor students in English (reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary), Art (drawing, painting, mixed media), digital art and photo manipulation (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop), and Social Studies (history, geography, anthropology, archaeology).
I graduated cum laude from Bryn Mawr College and went on to pursue graduate studies at the University of Michigan. I have a Master's degree in Anthropology with a specialization in Archaeology. As a graduate student I received a National Science Foundation Fellowship and a Fulbright Scholarship. In addition I am a bit of a word nerd, with a strong love of language and 10+ years writing professionally in a variety of subjects. I am accomplished in both traditional and digital art, including drawing and painting (oil and acrylics), and the Adobe Creative Suite software programs.
I have experience teaching students of many ages, from 6 years old and just learning to read to undergraduates struggling with writing term papers. I believe all students are capable of mastering the subjects I teach, and I will try different approaches until they attain that mastery. I bring commitment and a positive attitude to all tutoring jobs, and I love watching my students skills and confidence increase.
I look forward to hearing from you.
