I am a trained Engineer, having attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, currently working in basic public sector scientific research. I have always enjoyed math and science, and enjoy imparting my understanding to new pupils.
Whether it's to edge closer to a 100 grade, or to move from trouble into a safe zone, all students can benefit from a little help, and I am able to find ways to help them do so through a thorough understanding of the material and the needs of students.
I have tutored students professionally for 4 years, from 6th grade arithmetic to college-level Calculus and all manner of maths in between. The secret to mathematics is that it has a set of rules that it absolutely must follow. Helping students to realize this simple truth, and to gain confidence in their own abilities sets them on the way to enjoying the material, rather than seeing is as a task or a chore.
I use mathematics in my profession every day. I use it as a tool to improve performance, to analyze effects and to diagnose issues. Without realizing it, we all use maths every day, from budgeting our spending, to planning out our day, to deciding how to put away our groceries. Indicating to students the ubiquity of math, and the ease with which we can master it, is the goal.
