My main professional passions are math, statistics and physics and I would love to get a chance to help a student become passionate about them. I cannot guarantee that but I would certainly make it interesting for them, and they might take another look at these subjects with a different perspective. I did my PhD work in engineering but these subjects always were the backbone of what I did in my studies leading up to it, and even now in my professional work I deal with these subjects (more of statistics and math). I am doing this more as a hobby and not as a main line of work since I still enjoy reading about these subjects in my spare time. My main requirement is that parents be supportive of their kids' education and want them to learn and not just get through the next hurdle - another exam!
My method of teaching will be to relate the concepts in everyday terms. I have found this to be the best way to retain and apply concepts. For instance, why is the graph of distance versus time a straight line when velocity is constant? One way to understand is that for equal time intervals the distance should always remain the same! And that is also the consequence of a line being straight.
