InDesign has been an important part of my design work since before it became an Adobe product. I've used it for years, for everything from creating simple brochures and business cards to the design and layout of a book.
Photoshop is one of the necessary and most used tools in the field of graphic design. In my 15+ years as a graphic designer I have used Photoshop extensively and can teach people who want to learn the basics and those who want more advanced training.
Before my career as a graphic designer I was a licensed aesthetician. My experience includes running the Lancome Institute at Marshall Fields and six years working for a dermatologist. In addition, I have worked in the field of aesthetics as a graphic designer.
I'm mostly self-taught although I have studied drawing as part of my degree in graphic design. I use drawing in my every day work as a graphic designer for sketches, thumbnails, storyboards, etc.
I also teach portrait drawing using a method that makes it easy ensure good results. Samples can be provided upon request.
I've been painting for about 16 years and have been teaching private or semi-private lessons. I have been in many shows and have sold paintings both through art shows and online. I'd be happy to share my online portfolio as a reference. My rate can be adjusted depending on how many students there are in a class.
Proofreading is an important part of my job as a graphic designer. I've been designing, editing and proofreading for about 15 years both for large and small businesses. Some of my clients have included Neiman Marcus, JC Penney, Ivey & Associates, Conexis and ACS.
I've been sewing for about 20 years. I learned from a woman who sews wardrobes for some very high profile people and who taught me some industry "secrets" that prevent a garment from looking homemade. In addition I can teach you how to alter a pattern so that you can use it many times and not need to tailor the finished garment each time.
For nearly 20 years, I have helped people with ADHD, including two of my sons, learn how to get and stay organized both in school and in life. This includes learning creative ways to study more efficiently and effectively.
