I am a person who loves to hep people learn. A fault of mine is that I am always trying to explain complex subjects to some people who have no interest! So, I find that coming here helps both me, by letting me explain all the things you need to learn, and you, by learning what you're having trouble with. I initially started out as a double major in Molecular Biology and English, but I dropped English in my junior year since Molecular Biology demanded so much of my time. This does not mean that I am not adept at tutoring all aspects of English. I read constantly, and have submitted a few articles of my own over the years. I have also been acknowledged in a scientific article in the Journal of Neurobiology. Because of my degree, I am also very knowledgeable in the maths and sciences. My favorite tutoring sciences are chemistry, biology, physical science, and genetics (or anything to do with molecular biology, such as microbiology).

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Genetics

Genetics was a required class in my Molecular Biology degree. I made an A in it. How can I get certified to tutor it? I went to the University of Texas at Dallas and obtained my degree in Molecular Biology in August 2010. I also worked in a neurobiology lab for a year while I was there. I am not sure what other information you need from me, but I will be happy to give it to you. As I stated before, genetics as a whole is a big part of molecular biology in general, and I have my degree in that. I also took a Classical and Molecular Genetics class and made an A while at university.

Microbiology

I have a degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Texas at Dallas (grad 8/10). I spent a year in a neurobiology lab that dealt a lot with microbiology. I also took a course worth 5 credits in microbiology lab.

Study Skills

I have tutored many students over a 10 year span. I taught them study skills along the way. I also headed study circles in university, where I would study for an upcoming exam and then get others in my class together and share what helped me. Strategy and study skills are a huge part in helping to grease the wheels of learning.

Perfect attitude and personality to engage my daughter's desire to learn — Brandi started tutoring my daughter and for the first time ever my daughter stayed at the table fully engaged and learning the entire hour. This has never happened before with other tutors. She also increased her confidence in her abilities with mathematics. In the past, having the tutor come over was a day she dreaded, now she looks forward to working with Brandi and learning. I would highly reco ...
