I majored in engineering and minored in math. My career was in telecom/computers with extensive mathematical analytics. I tutor almost any college and high school math course. I get a thrill in watching the light turn on students' heads when they see how easy math can be once it's explained properly to them. I hear "My child has this or that learning problem..." but I've not met one yet that can't improve. I instill a lot of CONFIDENCE IN MATH in them.

I've always tutored my 2 daughters and their friends for years in high school and college. I taught at private schools and SMU 5 years in math and SAT prep. I've tutored every kind of math for 5-6 years in this area also. I aced the teacher math tests and can get you through any kind of problem you may be having.

I don't teach techniques but need to understand how your teacher wants you to work a problem. Believe me, even in college, when you hit that wall and nothing seems to work, just having someone explain what you missed in the previous lessons or missed in your note taking is all it takes.

I've tutored students in at least a dozen different online universities, some straight forward, some very tricky and not so easy. You really have to know the fundamentals in these online courses because they use simple trick questions a lot.

I also have increased student's ACT and SAT scores significantly so they could get into the schools of their choice. This takes several sessions concentrating on some deficiencies they may have with Algebra and Geometry as well as particularly how approach SAT problems, which are nothing like homework. I have a lot of fundamental practice problems for you depending on the topic you need may be weak in.

ASVAB

I have tutored several students on this test for entry into our armed services. I am a U.S. Navy veteran and know the skills desired and the type of environment they will face in the service. I can tell quickly what math skills they need to concentrate on and bring different lessons to them.

Calculus

I have a Master's in electrical engineering and 27 hours of math included in that. I've tutored Calculus in almost every high school and college in the north Dallas/Plano area.

Geometry

I've taught and tutored Geometry in virtually every high school in the Plano and surrounding areas. While Geometry is at least 50-70% algebra review in solving problems, proofs, logic and the intricacies of the theorems leave many students behind. My way of explaining is very simple and easy to understand.

GMAT

Having tutored GMAT quantitative mathematics quite a bit, explaining how to solve these word problems and the logic behind some of them is the key to passing this section of GMAT. Many students have problems with word problems, especially the type found in GMAT, and if English is their 2nd language, this becomes an even greater challenge. My ability to explain things simply and in a mathematical setting, is my expertise.

Microsoft Outlook

I have used Outlook for over 12 years. It is very sophisticated, complex and difficult to understand, but provides one the protection of emails at their own site, rather than in the could with a web based email.

Prealgebra

Algebra is the fundamental process for all future mathematics. Algebraic techniques just increase in complexity yet with simplicity if the basics are understood. I have a great way of showing and teaching these basics for all math courses, especially at this stage of learning. A student's vocabulary of mathematics is quite large even at this early stage, so simple explanations and solutions are required - and that's where I excel...

Precalculus

PreCalculus has several different sections but is not necessarily progressive from one section to the next. Honors or PreAP PreCalc is challenging especially if the teachers take the "tricky" route with some of the subjects. I have a great methodology of explaining and making these areas simple, which also applies to the basic PreCalc classes.

SAT Math

I've taught SAT in high school and every summer for several years at SMU Plano.

TAKS

I've tutored TAKS for several years. It requires algebra and geometry techniques in a straight forward manner, and is not as tricky as the ACT or SAT tests.

TEAS

I took this same test a few years ago going for my teaching certificate. I aced it. I've tutored several people in it recently who are going into Nursing, Teaching, etc. Math is basically the same until you get into PreCalc, Calculus and Linear Algebra. I can tell what needs to be worked on quickly, and then normally bring sample tests, etc. to work on as your memory returns and Algebra/Geometry become easier.

Trigonometry

Trig is learned a little in Algebra, Geometry and PreCalculus, depending upon the school district. Trig is very simple and easy to understand if stated properly with easy to remember guidelines. My method of tutoring this subject is very simple and easy to remember for the students.
