I have a B.A. In Philosophy with a minor in Computer Science from Stephen F. Austin State University. I spent four and a half (4 1/2) years tutoring math at the tutoring center there and have been certified at Master level under CRLA. I am continuing my education to work in the church as a teacher and to disciple young men as I pursue my Master's in Seminary.

I love Greek and Latin. One of my goals is to translate for myself the entire New Testament from Greek into English. Along the way, I also plan to work Eusebius' Ecclesiastical History from the Greek to the English.

As for Math, I have tutored college and High School subjects ranging from developmental to Calculus II and Statistics.

I have taught at and helped run camps for Programming and Game design as well as Chess and some Minecraft for two years now. Lonestar College CyFair hold a program called Discovery College where elementary and junior high students can get a taste of the college experience by taking fun courses, like web animation and web design.

I love to teach, to see that light in people's eyes when they accomplish what they didn't know they could do. One thing I've learned is never to underestimate what a student is capable of, because low expectations can cripple a student before they even begin.

My philosophy on teaching is that learning is based around the student and must start at the student's knowledge. I like to spend some time with the student and personally guide them though the material. I'm always pushing my students to challenge themselves and think for themselves so that they can in turn take their new knowledge and pass it on to others.

If you would like more information or have any questions for me, please contact me and I will reply as soon as I can. I can't wait work with you or your child.

The times I have available at the moment are:
Monday-Thrusday: before 2:30pm and after 7:15pm.
Some Fridays and Saturdays.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

Most standardized tests cover the same content areas of math. I have been able to integrate and connect the different areas of Math to account for many kinds of questions.

Bible Studies

I am a Seminary Student currently studying towards my Masters of Divinity. I have taken Church History up to the Reformation, Old Testament Survey, read John Foxe's Book of Martyrs, history of Theology, C.S. Lewis, and several more. I am a licensed Minister and have preached many times at church. As a teacher, I am able to lead others through Biblical ideas and by asking them questions and teaching them to discover for themselves what the scriptures say.

Chess

I have been teaching with the Jon Santos Chess Academy for two years now and am able to work with students rated up to about 1100 USCF. This works includes tactics training, openings, and more. I have chess boards, clocks, and training material at my disposal.

Computer Science

My minor was in computer science. I have learned and used Java, HTML, CSS, php, and some C++. The classes I have taken were Programming principles, software engineering, data structures, discreet math for computer science, and participated in computer science competitions since high school. I am the web administrator for a chess academy.

Greek

I have taken four semesters Classical Greek at SFA. I have also begun translation of the New Testament into English as well as Eusebius' Ecclesiastical History.

SAT Math

Most standardized tests cover the same content areas of math. I have been able to integrate and connect the different areas of Math to account for many kinds of questions. I have helped education students in passing their PPR. Test taking strategies are also a major part of taking tests like this one.

Study Skills

I have been trained under CRLA as a Master Tutor and one of the main training sessions was over study skills. I have experienced and helped out with countless others with their study skills like timing, taking notes, portioning study times per class, and more. The skills are general and have specific applications depending on the student and their needs.

A great tutor. — Great tutor. We meet at a local Denny's restaurant and he helped me understand the U-substitution, 1st and 2nd fundamental theorem of Calculus. He helped me understand a trigonometric definite integral problem as well. I had budgeted 1 hour of time and he was able to answer all my questions within that time frame and was accommodating to my hearing impairment disability. I would recommend Chri ...
