With two history degrees - a Bachelor's and a Master's - in addition to a Master's Degree in Education, I not only know history but know how to teach it effectively and efficiently.

Following the completion of my Bachelor's Degree at Baylor University, I immediately entered their Master's Curriculum and Instruction program where I received professional education training in areas such as: effective discipline and classroom management; special techniques and reading in secondary school; technology fundamentals; issues in curriculum development; social foundations of education; and research in education. During the program, I also received teacher certification in Social Studies 8-12 and was placed as a student teacher at Waco High School in a 10th grade AP World History classroom for 3 months.

With over 70 hours of undergraduate and graduate level history courses as well as a Master's level thesis under my belt, my skills in and knowledge of history are extensive. I majored in history at Baylor University where I received my BA, and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in May 2013 with a Master’s in history. I have taken various courses in American history, Texas history, ancient history, medieval history, early modern European history, and historiography, but I am also competent in geography and economics, as my certification in Social Studies 8-12 proves. Also, I was accepted into the PhD program at the University of Houston (which I will be starting in August 2013), further proving my expertise in the field of history.

My most proud academic achievement thus far was the completion (and department approval of) my Master’s thesis. Roughly 100 pages in length, my thesis – entitled, “Revolution Within: Thomas Paine’s Dramatic Shift Toward Radicalism” – discusses Thomas Paine, one of America’s most celebrated revolutionary heroes, and the changes in his political and religious thought throughout his life. In addition to reaffirming my expertise in history, my thesis also stands as proof that I am a skilled writer, and am more than capable of providing tutoring assistance in this area.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Guitar

I have been playing guitar for 13 years. My love of guitar extends beyond the bounds of a mere hobby. I take it seriously, and have played at professional settings multiple times.

Social Studies

In addition to having two history degrees, I am certified to teach Social Studies 8-12. I think my qualifications speak for themselves.
