In teaching elementary math to students, I would use many strategies and techniques to help the student develop his/her math skills. I would introduce the concept to be taught, and use many examples to help the student learn the concept. I would have math manipulatives, math games, charts, paper and pencil activities, an abacus, or whatever is needed in the lesson to help the student grasp the concept being taught. When appropriate, I would use books, fingerplays, and songs in my lessons to to help the very young learn math concepts.
I would try to make my lessons interesting to the student. I would determine what skills and concepts are appropriate for the age and grade level of the student, and tailor my lessons to the needs of each individual student.
From learning to counting from 1-10 to learning the multiplication tables, I would do whatever I can to help the student develop his/her math skills and knowledge to become a confident learner.
In teaching English, I would strive to help the student develop skills in grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, spelling, and paragraph writing. I would use different strategies to help students learn these skills. If a student reteaching of a sill, I would reteach the skill to the student. I would work at a pace suitable for the student. I use a lot of positive reinforcement.
In teaching ESL, the teacher uses different strategies and techniques to help nonEnglish speakers develop their skills in the English language. The teacher strives to help the student become adept and confident with both his oral and written English language skills. The teacher will concentrate on helping the student learn to speak English, teach the student how to pronounce words, teach the proper use of grammar and syntax, and teach the correct spelling of words. The student will receive help with the real life experiences he may face in his daily life in which he is required to speak, read, and write in English.
I can help the student learn the rules of grammar and punctuation. I will help the student learn how to apply these rules in his/her writing.
When teaching students to proofread, I would teach them the skills they need to correct written work. I would use strategies that would help them develop the skills and give them the practice they need to become adept at proofreading written work. Students would learn to use correct punctuation, grammar and sentence structure in their writing.
I can teach the student how to spell words on their grade level and the basic rules needed when learning to spell new words.

I can help the student learn grade level vocabulary words, and help them learn the meanings of the words. This will enable the student to read and understand the reading passages and stories they will assigned in the classroom.
