Hello, I am pleased to meet you all! I am wrapping up my first year as a high school social studies teacher, and I absolutely love it. I teach ninth grade World Geography and AP Human Geography. I also work alongside the English department with STAAR test preparation and writing enhancement. In addition to the English department, I am also working to adapt an ESL program on campus for all LEP students. Many of our students are ESL students and need assistance in regard to education and learning English as a whole. Outside of geography/social studies, I am a Spanish tutor. I coach girl's volleyball and tutor in my spare time. In my spare time I practice and learn languages, read, exercise, research, volunteer, and mentor young college women. I look forward to working with you.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently a high school social studies teacher. I teach ninth grade AP Human Geography and World Geography. I have almost one full year of experience and will be continuing my teaching career for 2015-2016 in geography.
I have been learning the Spanish language for 12 years, and I truly love it. I have taken classes in Spanish literature, linguistics, Spanish history, advanced grammar and compositions, etc. By me helping others through tutoring, I will also help myself by reviewing and practicing earlier Spanish that we now hint on in upper level classes. I currently tutor two students on campus by phone, e-mail, and in person with their compositions, daily homework lessons, as well as their oral presentations at the end of the semester because it isn't always who sounds the best, it's who actually knows what they're saying even if they speak without rolling their tongue.
A background check for Sierra was ordered on 4/2/15 and is in pending status. A tutor will have a “pending” status while the background check is processed and/or evaluated. This status covers 3 situations: 1) a background check is being processed, 2) a background check has been completed, but the tutor is reviewing it and has the right to dispute its accuracy or completeness, or 3) the person has a pending arrest/charge or deferred adjudication. Regardless of the reason, if a person has had a pending status for 30 days, he or she will be removed from the website.
