About Corey

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have over 17 years or real work experience in Engineering and Technology. Engineering and Technology are studies derived from knowledge in math and science, which are very important in many aspects of life today. Over the years, I have studied, worked, experimented, and demonstrated my knowledge in Engineering/Analysis, Design, Graphic Arts, Computer Programming, Math, Physics, and General Computing.

I graduated in 1995 from the University of Houston, with a major in Mechanical Engineering Technology, where I used AutoCAD and Microstation to do mechanical design of parts and assemblies. I also studied many engineering courses, related to mechanics, fluids, heat, amongst others. I also minored in Computer Engineering Technology.

I have nine (9) years of experience instructing/teaching at the Community College level. I enjoy seeing people learn: a skill that you have naturally or developed from another person's teaching. But, "proper" teaching is an art. With that said, I find great reward in using my knowledge to uplift others to the next level. That is why I decided to become an instructor at the Community College. I always tell the students at the start of class: "you may not learn everything, but you will learn something". There's nothing better than when you teach someone something and their eyes open up, like: "I got it!"

As they say: "instead of giving man a fish, teach him how to fish". Therefore, I want to provide you with "direction". I look forward to tutoring you.

Thank You.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

HTML

I graduated in 1995 from the University of Houston, with a major in Mechanical Engineering Technology and minored in Computer Engineering Technology. I have been working in the Engineering industry for 17 years, whilst utilizing various Engineering Design, Graphics, and Analytical software. My minor (Computer Engineering Technology) allows me to program, debug, and customize the associated program capabilities. I have designed and developed many webpages using Flash, Javascripts, PHP, CSS, DHTML, and HTML5 programming languages/syntax, along with the creation of cell phone apps (applications).

In June 2006 – December 2009, I worked with Toshiba International Corp., Inc., in the Research and Development team as a Mechanical Design Engineer, whereby I designed the Mechanical Systems of Adjustable Speed Drives (ASDs), including the structural and thermal characteristics of the enclosures (and associated components), in support of the Electrical Engineering group.

In July 2000 – June 2006, I worked at Johnson Space Center (NASA), for the contractor MEI Technologies, Inc.: as an Engineer performing kinematic analyses of proposed robotic assembly, maintenance, viewing, clearance, berthing, and hardware inspection tasks, using the robotic manipulators/arms (SRMS, SSRMS, and SPDM) on the International Space Station (ISS) and Space Shuttle.

In December 1997 – July 1999, I worked for Wynn Consultants as a Junior Mechanical Engineer, doing engineering calculations, checking, and analyzing the team’s Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Piping, and related projects, to verify design accuracy.
