I teach, it's what I do. From the time I was in high school, I wanted to be a teacher. I had the most incredible U.S. History teacher for the 11th grade. It is because of her that I became one. She is my reason for being a teacher.

I have been a teacher for 10 years and I have taught English, World Geography and U.S. History in Grades 7 and 9 and at the college level. I have a Humanities degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and Texas Teacher Certification in Composite Social Studies, English, English-Language Arts and Reading. I also hold teacher certification from Florida in Grades 6 -12 in the Social Sciences. I have a Master's Degree in History from University of Houston - Clear Lake and am working on a Master's degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University. Currently, I am an adjunct history professor at Lone Star College - Fairbanks Center and Cy-Fair campus.

Whether teaching or tutoring, I am always looking for a better way to explain the concepts and events covered in whatever subject I am working with. I am always looking for a way to make the subject real, to allow my students have that 'Wait! I get it!' moment. I realize how overwhelming U.S. History or World History or U.S. Government can be to someone struggling with the subject. That is why I work on looking beyond the information on the page, to the reasons why things happened. I draw my students into discussions on the subject matter and through that, they gain a deeper understanding of the material. That deeper understanding allows them to retain the information for a longer period of time and to be confident in their answers.

I firmly believe that anyone can learn. It does not matter your age or past educational experience. ANYONE can learn. I am one of those people who can truly say that I love my job. Please contact me at my profile so I can help your child, or yourself, reach educational goals you have set.

I bought a friend of mine a t-shirt that says "English is a weird language. It knocks down other languages in dark alleys and riffles through their pockets looking for loose phrases." Being that she was a historian AND literature fiend, she found the shirt absolutely hilarious. I found the sentiment on the shirt completely true.
