I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Houston, studying Civil Engineering, planning to graduate in fall 2011. For my undergraduate studies, I still use many mathematical concepts I've learned from the curricula of my primary and secondary education. Math has always been my strongest and most enjoyable subject in high school. I took AP Calculus my senior year, and scored a 5 out of 5 on my Calculus BC AP test. Since my high school years, I have done voluntary tutoring for my friends and family in various math subjects. Those whom I've helped know me as being patient, friendly, and a reliable person to come to for help in math. When tutoring, I know that clarity, accurate instruction, and being able to teach from the student's perspective are very important for the student to gain a good understanding and enjoyment of the subject.
As a math tutor, please don't hesitate to inform me of specific needs and uncertainties your child may have from school since the awareness of specific difficulties will help me evaluate and prepare myself accordingly to provide effective tutoring. As a full-time student, I am open and willing to adjust my time and effort for the benefit of your child's learning.
When I'm not studying for school, I am active at my church, teaching Sunday school class for elementary school and middle school kids. Currently, I teach art and drawing lessons to young children. In my spare time, my interests include reading, making art, playing sports, listening to music, and cooking.
I look forward to hearing from you!
