I am a certified teacher in the state of Texas; my specialty is in English and language acquisition. I worked for Midland ISD in Texas for 10 years both teaching students and training teachers to work with students, especially in the field of English and language acquisition. I also worked for Midland College as an adult education teacher and Adult Education director supervising GED and ESL instruction.
My philosophy is that all students can learn and through education they can be empowered to improve their home, school, and work life. Areas of expertise include: English, Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading, and Writing.
I like to work with students and facilitate their learning by teaching them strategies that they can put in their "backpack" or brain and take with them, providing them with tools they can access not only in the subject they are learning, but also in other academic areas. FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS: Si usted necesita aprender ingles para mejorar su calidad de vida en casa, en la escuela, o en el trabajo, comuniquese conmigo. Soy maestra bilingue certificada en el estado de Texas con especialidad en ingles, gramatica, vocabulario, lectura, y escritura y preparacion para el TOEFL. Tengo experiencia como maestra bilingue en las escuelas primarias, y con adultos impartiendo clases en el colegio. El enfoque de mis clases es en adquirir vocabulario, con lo cual se logra la comprension y la comunicacion. Se aprende el vocabulario relacionado con un texto, incluyendo pronunciacion, fonetica, y ortografia. Luego estudiamos gramatica del mismo texto a la vez que practicamos lectura y escritura--todo relacionado con el mismo texto, porque los estudios nos indican que se aprende mejor en contexto. Este metodo lleva al alumno a aprender el idioma mas rapidamente porque lo que se practica de una destreza ayuda y mejora las otras destrezas necesarias para aprender un idioma completamente: el escuchar y hablar, el leer y el escribir.
