I attended the University of Houston and received a B.A. in philosophy (summa cum laude) in 1979 and an M.A. in philosophy in 1982. While in attendance, I worked as a Teaching Fellow and as a tutor in Formal Logic. In addition, I have 18 graduate hours in Education.
For the past 30 years, I have taught college-level courses in Logic, Ethics, and Introduction to Philosophy. I have also taught Introduction to Philosophy to high school students and Mathematical Logic to middle-schoolers.
I also have experience teaching high school Latin 1 and Latin 2.
I am able to provide personalized and patient instruction in introductory college-level philosophy courses. Because philosophy is a writing-intensive, analytical subject, I am also able to provide instruction in composition and critical thinking.
I can teach Formal Logic (Modern Symbolic Logic or Mathematical Logic) to all levels, from elementary to college-level.
Because of my coursework in English and in Classical Languages (Ancient Greek and Latin), I am able to help with vocabulary development and grammar in English and with introductory Latin courses.
Finally, I am able to provide General Education to elementary age children. I worked for several years at a private school for Gifted and Talented children, teaching Spanish to preschoolers and Latin to elementary age children.
Please contact me if you think I would be a good fit for you or your child.
