I studied philosophy at Collin College and Dallas Baptist University. I earned an Associate’s degree in General Studies at Collin and a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from DBU. I earned a Master’s degree in Christian Apologetics from Biola University where I graduated with high honors. I have a passion for education and exploring the world of ideas.
Philosophy helps us see the big picture when we look at the world in which we live. It provides the methods and defines the other academic disciplines. Logic is the branch of philosophy that studies correct and valid methods of thinking. Religion has been one of the most influential forces on humanity throughout history. I believe that the study of these things can help us appreciate the wonder of life.
I enjoy interaction with students. I like to ask questions and encourage others to ask me questions. Sessions would be conversational with lots of give and take during tutoring sessions. I like to connect topics with examples from culture and current events to help make it easier to understand the material and how ideas affect us.
I studied Old Testament Survey and New Testament Survey as part of my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. I also studied Biblical Archaeology and the Christian Scriptures while working on my Masters degree. I taught Sunday school at Lebanon Baptist Church from 2008 to 2010. I have worked as a volunteer for Vacation Bible School, teaching the fifth and sixth graders since 2008.
I studied logic while studying at Dallas Baptist University. This class focused on learning the laws of logic as first discovered by Aristotle and explained by latter classical logicians. This included the study of the four basic laws of logic that all thought must conform to, the laws of inference of syllogistic logic, formal and informal fallacies, and deductive and inductive logic. Most of my education involves reading and evaluating rational arguments. Because of the necessity of logic in argumentation I have used logic to varying degrees in my other classes.
I studied philosophy of religion and comparative religion at Collin College and Biola University. I also studied historical and systematic theology at Biola University, and took a class on worldviews at Dallas Baptist University.
In addition, I have led study groups that compared and contrasted religious beliefs and practices at college clubs at Collin College and Lebanon Baptist Church. My Master’s degree involved studying arguments for against the beliefs of different religions.
