I am experienced in ESL, including reading and conversational speech, study habits, Math, English, and writing. MS Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint are also my strengths in tutoring.

I taught at Central Texas College as a MIS instructor. The courses include Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel. All my students passed the courses and inquired on what upcoming computer courses I would be instructing. Students included military members and their dependents, and local Okinawans.

I graduated with a 3.94 average in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management. I have over 20 years' experience in budgeting, information systems (including programming and Microsoft Office products), and English grammar and editing.

I enjoy teaching and my technique is hands-on learning.

Microsoft Word

I not only used Word in all my positions in the past few years, but I have also taught Word to Military and local Okinawans. My students continually asked me what courses that I was instructing for the next course period and all of them earned their degrees.

Microsoft PowerPoint

As a student and a team member when I was at the University of Phoenix, I was the team member who was elected to edit all our reports and powerpoint slides.

Reading

As an avid reader, a student librarian when I was in high school, and currently a volunteer at the local library, I have read a variety of books throughout my lifetime. In addition, I recently received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management.

Writing

As a Technical Editor for one of the companies I worked for, I was exceptional in my position. I corrected grammatical and spelling errors continually. My team depended upon my expertise for a quality deliverable. In my other positions, I had to develop Standard Operating Procedures and various regulations. I have published an article on WIMS 20/20 which was published in a technical magazine for the military.

English

I am an experienced Technical Editor, who is the go-to person for grammar. I receiving high praise for my grammatical and spelling skills when I edit and write my papers for college. In fact, I was always the person who my fellow students would come to in order for them to have their papers critiqued.

Literature

I have taught elementary math and was an honor student as I was growing up; my background is accounting and I have exceptional experience in Excel Spreadsheets (I use formulas, have knowledge of pivot tables, and used macros).

Study Skills

I have worked with elementary as well as college students to help them grasp the subjects at their level and to give them guidance on how to remember names, dates, and places. Doing this, I have used mini-quizzes and crossword puzzles. It has increased their knowledge from 65% to 92%.

ESL/ESOL

I have worked and taught locals in Okinawa, Japan, in Microsoft Word products. I had a local maid, who I taught the American language.

I was a member of a military/civilian organization that encouraged Americans to open their homes to Chinese nationals who visited Okinawa Japan on a monthly basis. Our purpose was to bring them into our home to see how we lived, teach them games, answer any questions about American government, history, current events, and provide them an American meal...

Public Speaking

I have spoke in front of several audiences: at meetings, before board members, in classes, as an instructor and for elections for offices of several organizations that I was running for. The key is to know both your audience and the subject that you are speaking on. I was rated highly when I presented subjects.

Microsoft Access

I have worked in Microsoft Access for many years. I have set up and managed many Access databases, used SQL, developed forms, extracted information from Access into Excel, data mined information, etc.

Microsoft Outlook

I have used Microsoft Outlook for over 10 years. There are many internet sites I use to keep up with the changes. I use the tasks to provide for time-management and deadline reminders. I have not only created folders, email, and set the calendar for specific meetings and reminders, but also have instructed others on the techniques of the use of Microsoft Office. I am proficient in using flags, color coding and sorting features to assist in prioritizing incoming emails.

Needlework

I have crocheted, knitted, done counted cross stitch (with a print), and crewel work for over 15 years. I have given all these as presents or have sold them. I have a client who continually asks me to make her family Christmas stockings, afghans, and other household items.
