I am a recently retired University Professor with 37 years' experience teaching undergraduate and graduate-level Organic Chemistry. Author or coauthor of more than 300 research publications and 6 books. In addition, I have accumulated 15+ years' experience as a content contributor to the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). During calendar year 2006 I directed the entire organic chemistry program for the agency that supplies MCAT exam content.
I am interested in tutoring undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in a Sophomore (2nd year) organic chemistry course or students who have successfully completed undergraduate organic chemistry courses and plan to take either the MCAT exam for admission to medical school or the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) for admission to an MS or PhD program in Chemistry.
Course Materials: Based on a list of specific topics furnished by the student, a list of quiz-type questions will be furnished in advance of the scheduled tutorial session. This approach lends focus to the session and ensures that the student receives maximum informational benefit during the allotted time.
For students who plan to take the MCAT exam: Review materials prepared in MCAT-format are included and are furnished to each student in advance of each tutorial meeting to ensure that the student is prepared to discuss specific topics in some depth. Students who plan to take the Medical College Admission Test are most likely to profit from tutoring based upon testing materials for which the subject matter is presented in MCAT style and format.
